Quiz -One Report

The excitement in the air was palpable as schoolchildren from all over the city gathered at the Bhavan’s Varuna Vidyalaya to participate in the opening round of the Enquire Quiz League. The teams from schools all over the city were raring to go in what would turn out to be a true test of their quizzing skills.

As many as 56 teams from top schools in and around the city wrote the elimination round, of which six teams advanced to the finals. Two teams each from Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Elamakkara and Bhavan's Vidya Mandir, Girinagar made the cut with teams from Jyothi Nivas School and Vidyodaya School completing the final lineup. The quizmaster was Sebastian J Pattom whose witty remarks had the audience and the teams in fits of laughter and the Enquire executives counting. The final count stood at 81.The final saw some superb quizzing, with teams cracking anagrams, pointing out factual errors in a cooked up paragraph, identifying photographs and videos with gusto, all while pushing each other to the brink. The level and intensity of quizzing raised the temperature in the auditorium by several degrees.

In the final round, Bhavan’s Elamakkara held their nerve and pulled two brilliant answers out of thin air to pip the Jyothi Nivas School who had been leading the show till then. The last round cost the JNS team dear as they were pushed to the third spot by the Vidyodaya School. BVM, Elamakkara was represented by Ashok S Menon and Anand Ganapathy and Govind Ashok Kumar and Aditya Pulachery represented the Vidyodaya School, while the team of Althaf Majeed and Jobin Tom represented the Jyothi Nivas School, Aluva.
